Tunkhannock Borough is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and service-driven professional to join our municipal leadership team as Assistant Borough Manager.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of Borough government while supporting long-term planning and daily administrative functions.
Position Overview
The Assistant Borough Manager  works closely with the Borough Manager to support planning, research, and intergovernmental relations, while managing a broad range of administrative and day-to-day operations. This role requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic municipal environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Borough Manager with planning initiatives, research, and coordination with local, county, and state agencies
  • Manage and direct general administrative functions of Borough government
  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, correspondence, and recordkeeping
  • Support financial and administrative processes; experience with QuickBooks is a plus
  • Prepare documents, reports, and materials for Borough business
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for residents, elected officials, and partner agencies
  • Assume all duties of the Borough Manager during their stated absence
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of office or administrative experience, ideally in a professional or public-sector setting
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with standard office software; municipal accounting experience is advantageous
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment
